Janny J. Johnson / Writing Jan
I'm glad you found my page! I'm a Pacific Northwest freelance writer and author of parenting essays, children's picture books and I've also written a middle-grade novel.
The rugged Oregon coast is where my heart is happiest, and where I love to write.
Writing first became an outlet for me when I managed a household full of kids and pets. I had a background in art, yet that wasn't quite the
right thing for me. So I took some classes and joined two critique groups, and began to write--putting down on paper all that was going on in my busy life.
I was raised in the Pacific Northwest. I married my best friend, am the mother of four children, and the grandmother of seven.
I have always heard women talk about how being a grandmother was so much fun. Boy, were they right. There's nothing better than to have a little body headed my way at bullet-speed, calling, "Nana!"
However, most of the time I write in my den with my little 5 pound, apricot colored, Papillon dog at my side. His name is Typo!
